How to Play Roulette

Roulette is THE easiest internet gambling table game to learn because the rules are basically written right there on the playing field of the table. A white ball will spin around and land in a number slot. Depending on your selection of betting types, you will either win or lose. With American Roulette you have great payouts but because of that, you are fighting against 2 nullifiers those are zero and double zero. If you land on those and didn't bet on them showing up, then you lose your money.

The word Roulette means 'Little Wheel' in French. This game has maintained it's popularity for hundreds of years in many different shapes and sizes. The modern game that we know exists in two popular forms: European Roulette and American Roulette. The differences will be explained. The main component in the game of Roulette is the wheel which spins freely. The game is played using a special table which is covered with felt and divided into betting sections. The center of the Roulette table is laid out with numbers from 1 to the last number of 36 with a 0 (zero) section and sometimes a double 00 section. The layout is 12 rows of 3 numbers each. The wheel has numbered slots around the outer edge, and these slots are numbered from 1 to 36 with 0 and 00, if this applies. The dealer, or Croupier, as he is known in this game, gives the wheel a spin and then drops a small sphere in the opposite direction to the spinning of the Roulette wheel. The ball then comes to rest in one of the slots with numbers on the wheel and that is the winning number.

The main objective of the player is to guess the number on which the ball will come to rest. In addition there are other things he can guess and therefore bet on, such as what color the ball lands on, what group of numbers the ball will land on, and several others which are detailed below.

Inside Bets: These are wagers which placed on the numbers within the inside layout of the table, i.e., on the numbers 1 to 36, 0 and 00.

Direct Bet – This is the bet in which the player selects a specific number within the playing field. The bet is finalized when the player places the wager in the middle of the number’s square.

Split Bet – This is a bet that covers two numbers on the field. The player places the bet between the two numbers.

Bet the Street – Placing the bet is done by putting the wager across the end line of the desired row.

This is a bet that covers a row of 3 numbers. This is also called a 3-numbered bet.

Square Bet – This is a bet which is on a cluster of 4 numbers. This is also referred to  as a 4-number bet. the wager is placed over the intersection of the lines in the middle of the four numbers.

5-Number Line Bet – This is where the player can place a wager on five numbers, consisting of 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3. Here the wager is placed on the intersection of the dividing lines between 0 and 1.

6-Number Line Bet - A bet that is placed for 6 numbers; made up of two adjacent rows. the wager is dropped on the line right above 'Dozen' bets so that it is directly between the two rows which the player is covering.

Outside Bets:

Column Bet – A wager on one of the 3 columns (vertical). the wager is positioned at the last row of the column.

Dozen Bet - a wager on a block of 12 numbers - Either Low, High or Middle. the wager is dropped in the special box for this which is at the edge of the numerical layout, i.e. 1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12.

Even-Money Bet – There are some options here. a wager on 18 numbers. the wager is positioned in the special box for this which is at the edge of the numerical layout i.e. 1-18 or 19-36. Another option is betting on Red or Black.

Yet another option is betting on Odd or Even.

The players start making their bets and a few seconds later the Croupier spins the wheel and then rolls the ball. He will call ‘No More Bets’ when he thinks the ball will soon fall into one of the slots.

More than one player can win as everyone is playing against the wheel and not against each other. The winners are paid after the ball has come to rest.

The payouts relate to the odds of the bet. Roulette offers opportunities of winning great sums of money with a spin and this is the magnetic draw that this game has and which makes it so popular for many players. Payouts may differ somewhat from casino to casino.
